Sky Above Kharkiv

When Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, celebrated author Serhiy Zhadan took to social media to coordinate a resistance network and share words of courage with fellow Ukrainians. What began as a local effort exploded onto the international stage, as readers found in Zhadan a key writer-witness. Gathering Zhadan's messages, poems, essays, and photographs from the early months of the war, Sky Above Kharkiv is the testimony of one man entering a new reality and the story of a society fighting for the right to exist.
