In 1862 Sonya Tolstoy married the greatest author the world has ever known. For forty-eight years they shared their lives in a Union that was both passionate and combative. Sixteen yaers younger than her husband, Sonya bore him thirteen children and worked tirelessly as his copyist and Publisher on countless drafts of his famous novels. Both were mercurial personalities, and towards the end, an exhausted Tolstoy deserted her.
